Spring meeting 2025 on the island of Öland
We stay at Strand
Preparations for our spring meeting from May 29 to June 1, 2025, are in full swing. We will be staying at the wonderful Strand Hotel in Borgholm on Öland, right next to the beautiful Kalmarsund.
Just a stone’s throw away is Solliden Palace with its lovely palace gardens. The Swedish royal family is often seen there during the summers.
Strand is one of the most popular hotels in Öland and also one of southeastern Sweden’s leading conference facilities.
Fantastic Surroundings
Just a few minutes’ walk from the beach lies the ruins of Borgholm Castle. During the summer, the courtyard fills with pop and rock music, as well-known artists entertain from the large stage.
The town of Borgholm has a long history as a popular beach and spa resort. During the summer months, the streets are filled with tourists from near and far, and the town bursts with life.
Stora Alvaret
If you want to enjoy tranquility, you only need to move a few miles south, where Stora Alvaret stretches out. It is one of the world’s most unique cultural landscapes – majestic, desolate, and breathtakingly beautiful in Stora Alvaret near Kastlösa.
All of this gives you the chance to experience a remarkable combination. Millennia-old grazing traditions and the thin soils on the limestone bedrock have created conditions for a very special flora and fauna.
In northern Öland, you encounter a completely different landscape with sea stacks, sandy beaches, and enchanted forests featuring wind-swept pines and ancient oaks. Moreover, Öland is rich in ancient relics and remnants of Viking fortresses.
What does it cost?
We have booked a hotel package, which includes a room and breakfast, as well as dinner (one course) on Thursday and Friday evenings, along with a three-course dinner on Saturday night. Costs for lunches and any entrance fees are not yet determined, but they are unlikely to incur significant expenses.

Important information on how to book
You book the hotel package directly with the hotel. Our package includes accommodation, breakfast, dinner (one dish) on Thursday and Friday evenings, and a three-course dinner on Saturday evening.
- Before you sign up using the form below, you should book your accommodation at Stand Hotel.
Reservations are open until 2025-03-31. - Cancellations can be made up to 3 weeks before arrival for an administrative fee of 350 SEK/person.
(We have tried to get the hotel to waive this fee, but unfortunately have not succeeded). - Payment for the room is due at the time of booking.
How to book the hotel
- Go to https://strandborgholm.se/
- Click on “Book package” – A calendar will open now.
- Fill in your desired arrival date of May 29 or 30, the number of overnight stays, and whether you want a single or double room.
- Check the box “I have a code” and enter IFMR as the discount code. Click on “Verify code.”
- You will now be directed to IFMR’s special booking page where you can choose the room type you want.
Please note that there are several options! The rooms we have primarily booked are: Single room: Double140 – 5340 kr and Double room: Double – 7,980 kr. If you wish to upgrade, that is also possible, but it will cost more.
During the Ascension Day weekend, visitor pressure is high on Öland and it’s quite possible that the hotel may be fully booked. We have, of course, reserved a large number of single and double rooms, but if we exceed our estimates…
